We know from Game of Thrones that Bran & Bloodraven are capable of interacting with the past in some pretty profound ways, but are they actively meddling in the stories of HBO’s two newest series, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?
There certainly seem to be some instances where bad dreams and strange animal behaviors veer into the modus operandi of our two greenseers. Are Daeron’s dragon dreams just random, or is he being manipulated by someone? When Aemond couldn’t get Vhagar under control, leading to the death of Lucerys at Storm’s End, could Vhagar have been under the control of a powerful warg? Especially for the latter case, it seems like we’re almost being begged to ask these kinds of questions. Vhagar hasn’t ever shown that kind of unwillingness to listen to her riders’ commands before, so for the one case of it happening to lead to a point of no return in such a cataclysmic war is a little suspicious.
I wanna give another shoutout here to Preston Jacobs, whose Ice & Fire theories really got me into this series ten years ago when I was looking to go beyond the show and look deeper and more critically at the story. Y’all should definitely go check his channel out, and especially his Genetics of Dragons and War and Time Travelling Bran series, both of which I drew heavily from here.
And all the graphics for this video come from either the shows themselves or from the creators who put their work on the Wiki of Ice & Fire, which is the best place to get background on minor characters in the story if you don’t have a copy of Fire & Blood laying around. In particular, the artist Amok has a massive catalog of character portraits that I used here pretty heavily, so big shoutout to them as well for their work.
